Ten years ago, the Country Music Association partnered with country songwriters to help them showcase their craft around the world. Through the CMA Songwriters Series, songwriters packed their guitars, lyrics and memories and traveled to countries including England and Ireland, as well as numerous cities in the U.S. to share their stories and songs.

Now, through a new partnership the CMA has forged with Public Television’s concert series “Front and Center,” they also will be able to grow their global reach through television.

Two 55-minute concert specials will be taped for “Front and Center” to air this fall leading up to the CMA Awards in November. The shows will feature Lady Antebellum with special guests and Dierks Bentley with frequent collaborators Jim BeaversRoss Copperman, Brett James and Jon Randall. Bentley’s episode will be a celebration of the CMA Songwriters Series’ 10th anniversary.

“I’m so excited,” said CMA chief executive officer Sarah Trahern. “We’ve been trying to find for a while a way to showcase the amazing songwriters in Nashville on a more global scale. We’ve been doing the songwriter series for the last 10 years. We did a CMA Songwriters show in conjunction with the BBC. But I think the opportunity to really highlight the great songs in country music and its format is a great new opportunity, one that I hope will lead to more abilities to do projects with Public Television down the road.”

Both Trahern and “Front and Center” executive producer Don Maggi hope the partnership extends beyond two episodes.

“The goal is to make a deeper deal with the CMAs, which we will hopefully do,” said Maggi. “I think we will all walk away being very happy. We will be booking other country musicians for the series, but it’s something we want to be part of because country music is such a big part of pop culture that it’s something the people want to see.”
